Corneal Cross-Linking (CXL)

Keratoconus Corneal Cross-Linking (CXL) with Epioxa is a minimally invasive treatment designed to strengthen the cornea and slow or stop the progression of keratoconus.

During the procedure, Epioxa (riboflavin ophthalmic solution) is applied to the cornea after removal of the surface epithelium. The cornea is then exposed to ultraviolet-A (UV-A) light, which creates additional collagen bonds and makes the cornea stronger and more stable.

Key benefit

CXL primarily prevents further worsening of keratoconus; it is not primarily intended to eliminate the need for glasses or contact lenses.
